I used to have a Kenwood Concert SB256, which lasted for nearly 8 years. Not a bad innings, so I decided to go with Kenwood again. I only ever make smoothies, but since they're probably the most demanding thing for these blenders to deal with I'm sure they could handle any soups and sauces with ease. This blender has a much better design than my previous one - the bottom of the jug is easy to screw on & off, and the jug also screws in to the base, so it feels nice and sturdy. I never understood the point of the nozzles in other smoothie makers - usually the smoothies are too thick to pour, they're often difficult to remove, and eventually they get filled up with mouldy banana gunk if you don't clean them thoroughly. The one extra feature I would have liked to see is a plastic stirrer - sometimes the ice stays at the top of the mixture, avoiding the blades. The 'pulse' option deals with this issue, but it takes a few attempts to get the feel for it.It's worth reading the manual for instructions on the amount of liquid and how long you should use the motor for. (It can handle 800ml for smoothies, a little under 2 pints). There is a faint smell of hot rubber when the motor deals with a thick mixture, but judging by a Google search, this is quite common for blenders - it's probably just burning off some varnish from the manufacturing process (I've only used it 4 times so far). It's very easy to clean with a sink brush. So, overall I'm very happy, but it's early days yet - I'll update this if there are any problems.-Update: I've had it for about 4 months now, used it almost daily and it's still going strong. The rubber smell went away after about a week.

This is the most sensibly designed blender we have ever had. It is easily dismantled to facilitate easy washing and drying as well as being an efficient blender. Brilliant!

This machine is just brilliant, the best liquidiser I have ever had. It runs smoothly, quietly, the lid doesn't shake and the design of the base means the main part of the machine sits snugly, firmly and safely in its stand.
