5domestic heavy duty blender
By Tigerlilypye
I bough this blender about 6 years ago putting it straight into storage whilst we moved then renovated our home. In the interim I acquired the Kitchen aid mixer and food processor and to complete the set we received a KitchenAid blender as a gift. Twice weekly use of that blender over 12 months led to its untimely demise. Finally remembering we had the Waring we've been putting it to good use at least once a week for the last 4 years and I can honestly say it works as well as it did the first time. No niggling concerns about functionality or the longevity of critical component parts. This workhorse does the job every time, you flick the rocker switch on, decide whether you need high or low, then switch it off.The form as well as function of this machine is simple, but this uncomplicated look works giving it an authentic "retro" feel without the "designer" finish. This machine cuts through ice, blends fruits and vegetables, creates great smoothies, shakes and soups. The glass jug is durable having knocked it a couple of times and coming out unscathed and blending up to 5 cups (american company, american measures only).Like most blenders you can't fill it to capacity and expect it to do the job, but once you get used to its capabilities it will serve well. If like me you need a blender that will pretty much serve all of your general gastronomic tasks, without fear of how much more its going to take before it breaks, the investment (and that is what it has been) in this bit of kit is worthwhile. I'm hoping not to be in the market for a new blender ever again. I believe this brand is the chef's preferred choice and commercial grade equivalents can be found in many restaurant kitchens.I love the look of the KitchenAid product, but my Waring has outlasted it and in this colourway has a classic look which hopefully will add to its anticipated longevity.I started this review, giving the product 4 out of 5 stars knocking 1 off for lack of more variable blend speeds. It actually deserves all 5 as I don't need a five gear blender and can't imagine needing my ice to crush or tomatoes to puree at more than the 2 variable speeds it has. This machine does what it needs to do and I can't think of any improvements which would make it a better product. So its a 5!
