By C. CAMPBELL
This Wahl table blender, brought to us with the collusion of Saturday Kitchen favourite James Martin, certainly looks the part. With its hefty base, glass jar and 12 speed dial, it does easily shame my cheaper, plastic, supermarket bought blender that is now looking for a new home. The look of the thing speaks of quality, as does the endorsement of Mr Martin, plus a DVD with himself showing us how to use it to make soup.In the DVD James informs us that the jug was designed to be made of glass to prevent staining from fruit or tomato sauces etc, which makes all kinds of sense. Okay Wahl, I'll accept that the inclusion of glass wasn't just to make it look pretty and amp up the cost. BUT - why make this design choice to aid the cleaning of the device, and then make the whole thing really difficult to clean? I whipped up a Banana smoothie to test the thing out, and whilst I must admit it is the smoothest homemade smoothie I've ever made, it's almost not worth the effort because there are so many little nooks and crannies in the appliance that it's hard to clean, but even harder to get dry afterwards if you don't want to leave it sitting on the drainer. It's akin to the problem with cleaning/drying tupperware lids to give you a comparison! Also the DVD seems to boast James giving us 8 demos of how to use the Table Blender, but it actually gives only one use of the Blender as the other 7 are demos for other appliances in the Wahl range. The DVD does apparently also have the feature that if you stick it in the computer you can print off 28 recipes for free, so that's a nice bonus.I have to cover the subject of the blender having almost as many speeds as a mountain bike - there actually appears to be very little difference in speed between several of these levels. But I suppose 12 speeds looks a lot more pro than 4! I'm also not sure that the 'ice crush' function is doing very much, but then again, see about re: smoothest ever smoothie!I'm sure that now we're moving into soup making season, I shall be praising Wahl for the glass jug etc, but I think it may be a case of paying your money for style rather than useability/cleanability!

By AnimaSola
Well, after a few weeks using my blender I feel qualified to say this piece of kit qualifies not as a blender but a BLENDER.It looks very classy and modern, and its a nice idea that its sold with a book and dvd of uses for it, and if you have a tv in the kitchen you could follow recipes easily. On the upside it will make easy work of practically anything - I haven't had it turned up higher than the second setting and it's done everything I wanted it to do, you can have your soups smooth or chunky and sauces etc whipped up in no time.On the (possible) downside it's a little on the heavy side, even the jug is hefty so anyone with little strength in their arms would struggle I think. Though it does mean it feels quality and secure, and doesnt "dance" across the worktop during use.To be honest I think I'd be lost without it now.***EDIT/ UPDATE***So, I felt I had to do a little appendix on the review, given that after only 2 years... its died. This hasnt been used heavily, probably only once or twice a fortnight, and only used for light blending jobs - soups, sauces etc (from cooked vegetables), and smoothies (from soft fruit). Basically one day the base just started smoking - so I turned it off: checked it out, all seemed well - let it rest to cool down, tried it again and the inner blade just shot up into the beaker, and back came the smoke. Generally very exciting/ terrifying but really - 2 years of use?? Not what you would expect from a named product nor one that costs £40.Because of that, Ive had to drop it down to 2 stars. I dont like the idea that people might buy this only to need to buy another 24 months later.

By Doug
I have read through the other reviews for this blender and there is not a lot more to add.I like the design, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not everyone will agree that this is a sleek and sexy blender. But I love it.It is as powerful as you could want, and is well made. The instructions and DVD are a nice idea. The only negative is it is very solid and so the jug is heavy.Other than that, this is an excellent product.
